Ring in the New Year with this delicious and festive Vasilopita cake—a traditional Greek cake made with simple ingredients and a hidden coin for good luck.

Vasilopita is a traditional Greek New Year’s Day Cake. We always hide a (foil-wrapped!) coin inside the batter before the cake is baked; tradition states that the recipient of the coin (“flouri” in Greek) will have good luck for the year to come.

Any crumbs leftover? Well, they’re the perfect ingredient for our Kariokes recipe! No festive indulgence goes wasted at our house! Do you have any festive traditions that come out EVERY year without fail?

Dank je wel voor dit lekkere recept. Vandaag met oud en nieuw gemaakt en gegeten. Wat een heeeeerlijke cake. Mooie structuur en een frisse smaak. Rood fruit erbij smaakt ook heerlijk.
